After publishing award-winning novels for over two decades I turned to teaching as a way to share my passion with others. I have been conducting these individual monthly sessions for the past three years. Amazing women have come from Canada and across the United States to participate. But other women (and men) have expressed interest and I haven't been able to share the experience with them. Until now.

OPTION #1 $20.00

In a video I shot and recorded with McCabe Russell, I bring you into my
teaching space and talk you through what a live class would be like. The
video is edited by McCabe to include inspiring imagery and music as well
as many details about the writing process, including:
How to develop character
How to use descriptive language to create evocative setting
How to think about plot
How to address writer's blocks

OPTION #2 $100.00

In addition to this video I am offering a second option in which you
will be able to submit up to 10 pages (double-spaced 12 point font,
standard margin) writing for my editorial notes. I will go carefully over
the manuscript, addressing any issues of awkward syntax, grammatical
issues, weakness of plot, character etc. I will also point out what
works for me and try to offer some advice for an overall direction for
you to go in! I've been doing this for the past three years as well (as
well as doing it for myself for the past 20+) and I have seen some
powerful writing emerge. My students have found agents and publication
deals after working with me. Some of their testimonials are available
here.

After I give notes I will be available via email for follow up. I want
you to feel as if you are here with me, taking the class in person. In
some ways the experience will be more personalized because I will be
working with you one-on-one instead of in a group of 10!

The class is up and available now. I will take up to ten students at a
time and get back to you within two weeks of payment/submission. You
will have two weeks after you pay to submit your pages, unless you get
special approval for an extension.
